A European Directive transposed into Belgian law provides for minimum standards on the granting of temporary protection in the event of a mass influx of displaced persons into the European Union.

You must present yourself in person from monday to friday between 8.30am and 1.00 pm at the registration centre located at Victor Horta place 40 in 1060 Brussels with your identity documents.
A registration is carried out and a temporary protection certificate is issued, provided that the conditions for granting temporary protection are met.
With this certificate, the local administration of the place of residence will issue the person concerned with an A card, valid until 4 march 2025.
Ukrainian citizens with a biometric passport can enter and stay in Belgium for 90 days without a visa, thanks to the Association Agreement concluded between the European Union and Ukraine in 2017.
This 90-day period can be extended up to a maximum of 180 days if the situation in Ukraine does not allow for a safe return after the 90 days.
Ukrainian citizens who do not have a biometric passport, but who have received a visa for Belgium, can also obtain an extension of the period of stay, up to a maximum of 180 days.
In short, Ukrainian citizens who are, or have arrived, regularly in Belgium and who, due to the situation in their country, overstay their stay, need not worry.
However, they are advised to go immediately to the local administration of the place where they reside, to declare their arrival and/or to request permission to extend their stay in Belgium.
