For European citizens residing in Belgium. Card valid for 5 years, renewable without conditions.
The person concerned (accompanied, if applicable, by one of the parents or the person in charge of material custody in case of a child) must appear in person at the counter. This procedure is carried out when the validity of the document expires, when the photo no longer resembles the person, after an address change, in the event of theft, loss or destruction of the document, and only if the person concerned is in Belgium when the identity card is renewed. The applicant needs to be in possession of either the expired card or a declaration of theft, loss or destruction, and 2 identical passport photos.
The card can be renewed 6 months before its expiry date, but no later than one month before its expiry.
Attention: E+ cards are only issued to EU/EEA citizens. They are required to travel with their passport or national identity card, possession of a card E is not sufficient.
Condition for eligibility: be in possession of an card E for a period of 5 years. The first application is made at the immigration office Immigration Office. Renewal is done at the Population Registry.
